As part of the Greener, Greater Buildings Plan, also known as GGBP, Local Law 87 requires buildings over 50,000 square feet to have periodic energy audits with retro-commissioning measures. Building owners need to complete an Energy Efficiency Report, or EER, and have it approved every 10 years.
Local Law 87 (LL87) is designed to improve building performance, reduce energy waste, and help NYC meet its climate goals. If your NYC building is over 50,000 square feet, you must comply with LL87 which means completing an energy audit and retro-commissioning once every 10 years and filing your Energy Efficiency Report (EER) with the Department of Buildings.
