Another way Energo has been aiding in the fight against carbon emissions is by delivering clean, renewable Bioheat® fuel to commercial businesses and buildings in New York City. Bioheat® fuel is a blend of biodiesel fuel rendered from organic materials such as soybean oil, used cooking oil, and other vegetable oils with ultra-low sulfur heating oil. This fuel will help reduce emissions, improve system efficiency, and extend the life span of heating equipment.
Benefits of Bioheat® Fuel Include:
- Improved Community Health: Recent studies have shown that communities that switch to B100 (100% biodiesel) for home heating and transportation would prevent 340 premature deaths a year and reduce cancer risks by 45%.
- No Equipment Upgrades: Using Bioheat® fuel doesn’t require any pricy upgrades to your current heating system. It also acts as a natural lubricant and can help extend the lifespan of your heating system.
- Available Tax Credits: In New York State, heating fuel customers who use Bioheat® fuel blends beginning at B6 (6% biodiesel) and up to B20 can earn a 1 cent per gallon discount for each percentage of biodiesel in their fuel up to 20 cents per gallon under the Clean Heating Fuel Credit. Energo delivers Bioheat® fuel blends from B6 up to B20, so all of our fuel oil customers are eligible for a Clean Heating Fuel Credit at the end of the year!
