New York City Requirements
In February 2023, the New York City Council passed a bill requiring building owners across the city to end the use of No. 4 oil by July 1, 2027. One way to comply is by converting to No. 2 oil. Another way to comply is to convert to a natural gas system.

To convert to No. 2 oil, the DOB requires a certified tank tightness test, a NYC DOB Work Permit, and an amendment of the NYC DEP Registration. Your tank will also need to be thoroughly cleaned.
