If you’re trying to stay compliant with Local Law 152 (LL152), one of the first things you need to know is your building’s inspection deadline. In New York City, LL152 compliance is scheduled by community district on a 4-year cycle. Missing your assigned window can lead to expensive fines, even if your building has no gas piping.
How the LL152 Timeline Works
NYC has divided the inspection schedule across four years, with each community district assigned a specific year in the cycle. Every four years, your building is due again.
For example:
- Community Districts 2, 5, 7, 13, 18 are due December 31, 2025
- Community Districts 4, 6, 8, 9, 16 are due December 31, 2026
- Community Districts 11, 12, 14, 15, 17 are due December 31, 2027
- Community Districts 1, 3, 10 are due December 31, 2028
If you’re unsure which community district your building is in, the NYC Department of City Planning offers a lookup tool to help you find it.

What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?
Missing your LL152 deadline can trigger a violation notice and a $5,000 fine. The Department of Buildings is strict about timing, and extensions are rare.
If your building has no gas piping, you still must file a no-gas certification by the same deadline. (Read more about that in our previous blog: LL152 and No Gas Piping? Here’s What You Still Need to File).
Get Back on Track
If you missed your deadline, contact a licensed master plumber immediately to schedule an inspection. Submitting the inspection late is better than not submitting at all.
If your deadline is approaching, prepare early by checking access points, gathering building records, and scheduling with your service provider.
